It goes without saying that creating relationships is key when it comes to building a successful brand.
With the rise of technology, there are so many ways to connect with your ideal clients. The thing is, you need to be doing this daily.
“But Polly, I’m SO busy!”
No worries, my friends! Let me break down the different ways you can connect with your clients:
1. Post content your audience wants to see.
This is why it’s so important to know who your ideal clients are. What problem are you solving for them? How can you show that you’re relatable and understand how they feel? What values are you adding to their life? Showcase these ideas on your social media posts and stories! As Donald Miller, author of Building a StoryBrand* says: “Don’t be cute, be clear.”
2. Create polls and questions in your social media stories.
This is the perfect way to get your ideal clients to engage with you! I love encouraging my followers to engage with me because it makes them feel like a part of my brand. You can ask silly questions or you can ask them what they want you to post! For example, I created a poll on my Instagram stories asking which blog topic I should write about first and I got the most votes on how to connect with clients.
3. Build relationships through your social media direct messages (DM’s).
When you don’t check or reply to your DM’s, you are giving money away to your competitors! Let me explain. I know it may be hard to keep up with messages when you already have so much on your to-do list, however, your DM’s is the perfect place to build relationships. Someone may be reaching out to you because they want to learn more about you and your services. You never know if they can benefit from your services or if they might be able to refer you to someone who may need your services. Of course, you may ignore all the spam messages and copy and paste sales pitches but trust me when I say the magic happens in your DM’s!
4. Show you’re a real person.
Yes, you need to be showing your face more! You don’t have to be perfectly polished or dressed to the nines but it’s important to show that there’s a face behind your brand. I honestly wouldn’t purchase from a small business that only posted images and graphics. It’s important for your potential clients to see who they’re buying from! The perfect place to consistently show your face is in your social media stories because they disappear after 24 hours. 😉
5. Add a blog to your website.
No, blogging isn’t dead! I actually plan on writing a whole different post on this but to get straight to the point, blogging actually helps you show credibility in your field and drives more traffic to your website. When you are consistently updating your blog, you are giving your audience a reason to keep returning to your site! If you are having trouble writing your own blog posts, I can help you with that!
