Have you ever wondered what a typical web design VIP Design Experience day looks like? Well, today is your lucky day because I’m taking you behind the scenes. A typical day together is 6 hours long and I dedicate it to only you! That’s right, it means I’m not focused on checking emails, social media posts, or other client work. You get to have my attention for a whole day so we can get as much design work done as possible!
Ready to get started?! Here we go!
(For this example, I built a website for a career coach with a background in public health. It was a one and half day VIP experience due to the project size.)
Setting the stage for the VIP Design Experience
I always eat a heavy protein breakfast on my VIP days because my lunch tends to be later than normal. Good food always keeps me energized for the day. I usually meal prep my food so it comes together quickly and I don’t have to worry about cooking in the morning.
Ready, get set, let’s go!
After a hearty meal, I get all my ducks in order and get settled in at my desk. When I’m ready to start designing, I send my client a message letting her know I’m ready to get started and the VIP Design Experience begins!
Home page
The first thing I always work on is the home page, which takes about 1.5 to 2 hours to complete. After completion, I send my client a message and ask for feedback. They normally reply within a few minutes so we can keep the momentum going. Then, I make small edits and changes per the client’s request.
Additional pages
Now time to complete 2 more pages. For this client, we worked on the about and services pages. Once complete, I send for more feedback. I normally have a snack while I make client changes as requested (These protein bars* are my favorite things to snack on!). When we are only down to one hour left in our day, I give the client a realistic idea of what can be accomplished during the remainder of our time together.
Wrapping up
Day one comes to a close as I finish another web page. On day 2, I build the remaining pages, ask for feedback, and do all final edits. Once everything is approved, I launch the website!
*Bonuses*
I love to provide clients with a few bonuses outside of our VIP day which includes launch materials, brand style guides, 30 days of email tech support, and access to a private training portal so they are able to update and maintain their site on their own. My goal is to make the entire experience as seamless as possible and provide clients with the support they need.
And that’s it! There are a lot of nitty gritty details but I hope you’re able to see an overview of what goes on during a VIP as well as how collaborative it is.
